This is such a breeze! Thanks for the game and for the Linux port especially.
I love the cute artstyle and it's atmosphere, the abstract nature of what's happening and the fitting music. I can easily see myself coming back now and then for when I need something to unload my brain.
I'm also a fan of the execution - small filesize (I'm sure one could still go significantly lower with the propper tools but that's besides my point), run at FullHD 60fps on my rather old by today's standards and back than entry level mobile GT 735M.
(for comparison the iGPU on a 3rd gen Intel Core i3 is about 75% as powerful, according to my testing with SuperTuxKart)
I love how the controls do feel just as sluggish as the character looks, yet the atmosphere makes it hard to get frustrated with them.
Now to my favorite part, the issues. Honestly most of these are just a matter of polish.
If it's not too much of a hassle, could you please also make an Android build? I'd love to share this game with my 5yo brother, who, obviously, doesn't have an x86 machine.
Another minor wish of mine would be different themes, like sunset/night, with different backgrounds, choosen in sequence.
Also please add to the page's details that it's made with Unity and an indication that the packages are 64bit (and Unity's exact version to the description)
To sum it up - 9/10 execution of a simple idea with just a few technical hiccups
Wow! Instead of replying to each individual part of your post I'm just going to give you a massive THANK YOU! Everything you wrote is immensely appreciated and will go a long way in helping me improve upon all of my future work.
Once again, thank you very much for taking your time to write such a stunning amount of honest feedback! It will all be sincerely considered when I continue my work on Cat & Potat!
Best of wishes!

I’m glad I could be helpful. Thanks for making this, it’s rare something that doesn’t have an elaborate story is so pleasan’t. I’ll be watching. :)
Hello Mr. Heating! I know it's been a while. I just wanted to let you know that there is an Android version available for Cat & Potat!
Oh, nice, thank you!
Few technical things I noticed though:
Aside from that, on my Linux machine I’m unable to hear anything, there’s a repeated terminal output which I’ll include below.
Man, feels like I’m just complaining. Great job, actually :)
HELL TO THE YES I LOVE IT
cute art style, nice music and fun gameplay, jag är sjukt imponerad fan vad bra gjort! :´)
Thank you Cassie, that means a lot! Im so happy that you liked the game!
Best of wishes to you!

Great job, especially for your first game! Not a super big issue, but I was having a little bit of trouble predicting where the fish skellies were going to land at times, due to the way they rotated (I think setting the sprite's origin point to be closer to the center of the actual fish image might help with that).
After getting acclimated to the feel of the game, I had a lot of fun! My best score was 210 points!
Thank you! Im very glad you enjoyed the game! I'll take your feedback into consideration.
Best of wishes!

Hey, saw your post on reddit and decided to check it out! Gives me club-penguin mini game (that you spend hours playing) vibes... totally a compliment! Music is sweet and fitting. The controls are just a little too loose, but it gives you the feeling like your controlling a massive unwieldy potato so if that's what you were going for then great job. The art is very cute and lovely as well, everything works together well artistically. Oh and there should be a menu (or at least something should happen) when you press escape in the main gameplay section because while you're playing there's no way to leave the game unless you run out of lives. I will follow you on twitter and hope to see more!
Thanks for the review! I did indeed want Potat to feel a bit unwieldy so he does have a bit of weight added to his movement. And a proper pause menu is something I would like to add in the next update. Im glad you enjoyed the game! Thanks for the follow on twitter and thanks again for an honest review!
Best of wishes!

Art's well-done, music's pleasant , and the core gameplay loop has nuance to chew on. What angles can fishbones come from? What is the optimal use of the dash? When's the best time to sidescreen step? In my handful of tries, I got to 176. Congrats on the first game! Great work!
Thank you, that's very kind of you! Im glad you enjoyed the game and even found some depth in it's gameplay!
Best of wishes,
Simon
It's me from Reddit. I love the game! I didn't know you can cross the other side just by reaching either end. So far got 131 points only, what is your high score? I need to improve more.
Thank you! Im glad you enjoyed the game! The teleport on either side can be quite useful. My best score was right around 200 points. See if you can beat it!

Challenge accepted haha!
Amazing! Saw the post on Reddit and immediately downloaded. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! I appreciate it!

Saw a post on reddit and downloaded it for a quick try. The art is really good IMO, very pretty game and quite memorable in that respect. The gameplay is simple, but fluid and the dash and slightly unpredictable trajectory of the fish bones do actually add something to an old concept. It occurs to me it would be perfect as a mobile game. The animation is great too, I especially love the animation for Potat and when the things hit the floor. The only feedback I would have on that front is that the cat's falling animation is a bit overly repetitive and not as fluid as the rest of the animations. Overall a good game, and a great result for the first game you've made.
Thank you for such kind words!
I would love to make Cat & Potat! available on mobile! It's something I'm looking into. After finishing work on the game and reading your feedback on the cat's animation it does occur to me that I defnitely didnt get to spend as much time creating Cat as i would've liked to, and in the last stage of development I sort of forgot about the cat. So you expressing your feelings about it is SUPER helpful! I appreciate your feedback very much and thank you for taking your time to write such an honest review, it is greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!
Best of wishes,
Simon
here from reddit, love the art and gameplay!
Thank you! Im so happy you enjoyed the game!
Best of wishes,

This game is really easy on the eyes with gorgeous hand-drawn assets, and hopefully one potential new original character within the gaming world, Potat! The real challange here is to get past 200points. Good luck!
Indeed haha! It gets quite tricky at 200 points!
Thank you so much for playing my game!
Best of wishes,
Simon
